Memoria della beata Nemesia Valle a Tortona (Al)

A commemoration in honour of Blessed Nemesia Valle took place last 25th June in Tortona, the town where she spent 35 years of her life. A historical and spiritual seminar was held, then a solemn celebration of the Holy Mass in the Cathedral followed remembering the centenary of her death.

The Bishop Mons. Vittorio Viola, welcomed with benevolence our request to set up such an event. He attended all the activities organized, together with many Sisters of Charity belonging to the Northern Italy Province, many diocesan priests and alumni of the former S. Vincent’s School, now called St. Claire’s.

Father Maurizio Ceriani, specialized on the history of the Diocese of Tortona, and Sr. Anna Antida Casolino, general postulator of the Congregation, spoke about Sr. Nemesia, her work, her relationship with the Diocese and the town. They highlighted her positive influence and presented her as a model of holiness which anyone can still imitate today.

We believe that the event in Tortona about Blessed Nemesia will not remain isolated. Also in Aosta, where she was born and in Borgaro where she died, there were meetings and celebrations on the same day.

In the hall – which was the chapel when Sr. Nemesia lived there, within the former Saint Vincent’s School – her portrait is now on display, in acknowledgment of her significant presence and as an invitation to anyone who wishes to live the Gospel of Charity as she did.
