Marly: Foyer St Camille

A home for handicapped persons

The Community at Marly in Switzerland is "the little that is left" but which continues its journey with joy.
The "Foyer St Camille" welcomes handicapped people.
The community has been present in this home since it was opened in the 1960s and it developed according to the inmates’ needs.
Today, its structure has been enlarged considerably because of its different workshops; the laity have taken over the care of our friends.
The role of the community.
Our small community has "immigrated" to the buildings that belong to the Parish.
There, two of us, Sr Aloysia and Sr Marie Andrée welcome the groups and we do all sorts of things that are necessary. We visit the elderly persons in their homes to share some moments of their solitude. It is a great joy for us to show them our affection and Jesus’ love.
Myself, Sr Dominique, after so many years spent with the handicapped, as an assistant nurse, I am always among them, of course only at the chaplaincy. Together with a team of lay volunteers, we listen to our brothers and sisters "blessed with life".

"It is a great joy to be with them, to share and to relive their faith. From them I learn what is essential in life."

A witnessing

"I, Alice, a young Asian, since I when I came to Switzerland, I have been living with the Sisters, at Marly. Besides their kindness towards me, I appreciate their witnessing to faith, their simplicity, their love of God. All this is evident in their daily services to "their brothers and sisters. I thank God for the time that I spent at their Convent, and I also thank the sisters."
