In 1980, the Cardinal Vicar of Rome, Msgr. Poletti, on 1 June signed the decree for the foundation of the parish dedicated to Saint Giovanna Antida in Fonte Meravigliosa, a district of southern Rome.

From 1983 to 1990 pastoral activities took place in the premises of some shops, under the tent of a circus, inside a prefabricated building. So remember the first Sisters of Charity who took up residence in the neighborhood,  in Prato Smeraldo.

Msgr. Poletti highly appreciated the enthusiasm and commitment of the various parish realities. He promoted and encouraged an extraordinary fundraising and on 13 May 1990 the construction of the current parish church began, with the home of the priests, the classrooms for pastoral care, sports fields, games for children, the library- study for university students.

In 2011 the parish priest gave birth to the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration and inaugurated the Center for Aid to Life to support women in difficulty and with difficult pregnancies.

The Sisters of Charity currently present in the parish are Sister Jose M., Sister Paola A. and Sister Teresa V.
