On 29 May, our community of elderly residents, together with the nuns and chaplains, paused for a moment of reflection and prayer to commemorate Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret, on the bicentenary of her death.
We are in Busto Arsizio (Varese) at La Provvidenza, a care home that offers a peaceful stay for the elderly by striving to recreate an environment that resembles a family home.
The ceremony included the recitation of the Holy Rosary, veneration of the saint’s relic, and the reading of several reflections dedicated to her life and spiritual legacy.
A simple yet profound occasion to recall the charism of charity, care and service which, for so many years, the Sisters of Charity have borne witness to in our Home too, alongside the elderly and the sick welcomed at La Provvidenza.
We take it upon ourselves to preserve the memory of a presence that has left a profound mark on the history of our organisation and in the lives of many people.
