Laudato Si’ Day at Saint Anne School in Cairo, Egypt, inspired by Isaiah’s famous prophecy: when all men and women have accepted and lived the peace and reconciliation of Jesus, even animals will lose their predatory instincts and their destiny to become prey.

Then Isaiah’s prophecy will be fulfilled:

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear will graze together; their young will lie down together. The lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play on the hole of the asp; the child will put his hand into the viper’s den.

They shall no longer do evil or plunder in all my holy mountain, for the wisdom of the Lord shall fill the earth as the waters cover the sea. On that day, the root of Jesse shall be raised as a banner for the peoples; the nations shall seek it eagerly, and its dwelling shall be glorious.

The students of Sainte Anne School in Cairo enjoyed a wonderful day dedicated to Laudato Si’, which contains Pope Francis’ appeal to “care for our common home”. Through activities, prayers and moments of sharing, they discovered how nature is a precious gift that we must protect with love and responsibility.
