In light of the tragic events currently affecting the countries of the Middle East, the Provincial Chapter of the Province of the East was held online on May 2 and 3, 2026. The capitular sisters connected from Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Rome shared—online—a fraternal experience rich in exchange, reflection, and communion.
This Chapter was made possible thanks to the permission granted by the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, as well as the blessing and support of the General Council. The message sent by Mother Maria Rosa deeply encouraged us; it rekindled in us trust, fidelity to our charism, and hope for the future of our Province.

Whether in plenary sessions or small groups, the sisters shared their experiences, concerns, and expectations in an atmosphere of mutual listening, respect, and trust.

The discussions, moments of discernment, and prayer fostered anatmosphere of communion and strengthened our sense of a shared mission in service to the Eastern Churches in which we are embedded. The voting by the delegates to the General Chapter, organized on a secure digital platform, was a new and meaningful experience. This approach allowed us to fulfill our chapter responsibilities with transparency, discretion, and serenity, in keeping with the spirit of participation and shared responsibility that animates our Congregation. In fact, we rose to a great challenge, despite the war, administrative difficulties in obtaining visas, and frequent flight cancellations.
This experience also highlighted the resilience and adaptability of the sisters of the Eastern Province, their admirable willingness to “live in the resurrection” and to carry on the mission despite the terrible and difficult circumstances.
More than a virtual meeting, this Chapter was an experience of synodality and trust in the Holy Spirit who guides our history. An event that will long remain etched in our memory as a true sign of hope for the entire Province and tangible proof that no drone, no war, no violence can prevent sisterhood from growing and hope from spreading.
