European Provincial Chapter – Opening Prayer

La Roche, opening prayer of the European Provincial Chapter, 21 April 2026: the prayer was accompanied by various symbolic elements, with the aim of exploring the spiritual, charismatic and apostolic significance of our apostolic presence, amidst the enriching diversity of our different backgrounds, ministries and works.

We welcomed the Cross, a sign that encapsulates the mystery of our faith: the love of God who gives himself for us in Jesus Christ and who continues to accompany us.

We brought nine circles to the altar, coloured according to the flags of the nine countries that make up our Province: through this symbol, we wished to make present and embrace our entire territorial reality.

We brought a poster to the altar featuring photographs of the mission lived throughout the Province of Europe, a sign of the single mission that unites every Sister of Charity in this territory.

We have brought to the altar the Resource Booklet which has helped our communities to make their contribution to the work of this Chapter; together we bring the icon of this special Bicentenary year. May these days be marked by the presence of every Sister of Charity living in Europe and accompanied by the maternal care of our Holy Mother.

Finally, the Provincial Superior, Sister Sabrina: “We have been called to consume ourselves in charity and to be a prophetic sign within the Church. Let us now perform a simple yet significant gesture: each of us will place a grain of incense in the thurible. We offer our lives to the Lord and our desire to seek his will together.”
