I am Marie Mikhail, a proud alumna of Sainte Jeanne Antide in Alexandria, Egypt, class of 1967.

My 13-year journey at this esteemed institution has left an indelible mark on my life.

I recall the day my father took me to meet Sister Felix Marie to register. The school’s beautiful garden, with its majestic trees and vibrant flowers, left a lasting impression.

Each classroom, from kindergarten to grade 12, holds a special place in my heart.

Our weekly Wednesday morning masses and prayers in the school chapel played a significant role in my spiritual development. The school’s administration organized enriching trips to historical sites, broadening our knowledge and appreciation of Egyptian culture. Miss Nabila Antoun, our French literature teacher, had a profound impact on my academic journey. Her dedication, passion, and kindness inspired me to excel, not only in academics but also in life.

The education and values instilled in me at Sainte Jeanne Antide laid the foundation for my future success. I became a devoted wife, mother, and career banker, achieving professional excellence in Canada and the United States.

In 2017, our class reunited, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. Alumni from all over the world, including myself, traveled back to Alexandria to join our classmates who still reside there. We were welcomed with open arms, and the school’s celebrations made the day truly special. One of the most poignant moments was when we gathered in the school chapel, the same one where we had attended masses and prayers during our school days. We prayed together, remembering our friends who had passed away, and honoring their memory.

It was a beautiful moment of reflection, gratitude, and reunion. I am also pleased to see that one of my classmates, Siham Gawdat (Sister Pauline Massouh), became the director of the school for many years now to keep the legacy for generations to come.

I express my deepest gratitude to God for the opportunity to attend Sainte Jeanne Antide. The school’s influence has been a blessing, shaping me into the person I am today.
