The first step in this fascinating journey has been taken.

In a world where we have no certainties or solid foundations, where everything is fast-paced and volatile, where we have no solid points of reference, whether for adults, young people or children, the need arose to found the youth movement Young Friends of Jeanne Antide.

To lay the foundations for this project, we met at the General House in Rome, where we discussed further ideas with the sisters.

With the aim of making this dream increasingly concrete, we present the first step of our journey.

Who we are:

A movement of young people for young people, which adapts to the needs of today’s youth, welcomes them and seeks to improve (in its own small way) the world for those to whom we entrust the future.

What we offer:

This movement offers an ongoing group programme for children, adolescents and young people, with the aim of accompanying young people in their holistic growth through knowledge of the charism of Saint Jeanne Antide, with the ultimate goal of making them active protagonists of their own lives.

The pillars of the movement:

These are undoubtedly the Word of God, the charism of Saint Jeanne Antide, service and much more.

How:

The goal we would like to achieve involves a series of positive role models to inspire them, other life possibilities and all-round experiences.

We therefore ask you to spread the word about this initiative as much as possible, so that Mother Thouret’s charism can reach more and more young people.

First online meeting of the AJA Youth Movement

Following the face-to-face meeting of the coordination group, we gathered virtually: young people and sisters from the various provinces of the congregation together with the AJA Adult coordination group to continue our dream.

Welcome from Sister Mirta:

With happiness and great joy, General Councillor Sister Mirta addressed her warm message to the participants of this first meeting, which marks the beginning of the AJA International Youth Movement to live the charism of Saint Jeanne Antide with creativity and enthusiasm.

Sister Mirta expressed her gratitude first of all

  • to the sisters connected ‘for accepting this beautiful and exciting challenge of walking alongside young people’;
  • and, of course, to the young people ‘for accepting the invitation to board the ship of charity’;
  • and also ‘to the AJA Adult Movement for accompanying the birth of the worldwide youth community’ with their very important presence and witness, reminding them of the importance of passing on the flame of charity to the new generations.

After the opening song, the participants from the international community also joyfully introduced themselves, which will allow for a rich and fascinating multicultural exchange. The goal of the meeting was to share the work accomplished so far, to share the identity of the Movement and its importance today.

Everyone was able to express what inspires them about the charism of Saint Jeanne Antide, what the pillars of the Movement are, its formative needs, and its mission. The exchange was lively, confirming the expectations that already animated the dream of ‘climbing together onto the ship of charity’. Thanks to a Google module, we were able to collect the most significant reactions after the meeting and continue the discussion afterwards.

We can therefore continue on our journey in hope.
