The journey proceeds…
The journey continues… Jeanne Antide declares that she accepts the offer of a foundation in Naples, responding to Madame Letizia’s invitation and offering to accompany the first six Sisters of Charity in this new service to the poor (cf. LD p. 259) who «…in whatever country they are, we must be equally dear to them» (LD p. 200ff ).
There will be diffi culties, and she refers to this in a letter addressed to Mgr. Lecoz «What we are concerned about is that we do not want to abandon our poor Sisters to an uncertain fate, and so we try to spare them any anxiety. Alas! If we had not come with them to overcome the initial diffi culties, how much they would have cried! Ah! How much patience we need, how much courage and prudence.…» (Naples, 29 December 1810, LD p. 259).
