As the new year begins, we join the Laotian community in wishing for peace and hope.
This time takes on even deeper meaning in the year marking the bicentennial of the death of Saint Jeanne Antide Thouret, whose spiritual legacy continues to inspire, throughout the world, paths of charity, service, and care for the most vulnerable.
Following her example, we renew our commitment to faithfully living the Gospel in daily life, fostering relationships of fraternity and concrete acts of solidarity. May the new year be an occasion for renewal, in the awareness of a shared journey that unites peoples and cultures in the pursuit of the common good.
In Laos, the traditional New Year, known as Pi Mai Lao, represents one of the most significant moments in the country’s cultural and spiritual life.
The celebrations foster the strengthening of family and community bonds, with particular attention to respect for the elderly and the sharing of moments of collective joy.
May the communities of Laos receive our best wishes for a new year rich in serenity, prosperity, and peace.
