At the Saint Jeanne Antide Bible High School Shashdra Lahore, the Ash Wednesday Mass was a meaningful start to Lent, inspiring our school Students, teacher, staff and youth to walk together in faith. This day symbolizes repentance, humility, and preparation for Easter. On Ash Wednesday 18 January 2026 the Holy Mass was celebrated in the school hall at 10:00 a.m.
Rev. Fr. Irfan Jerome OP presided the Holy Mass with students, teachers, staff, and youth member who could not attend in the afternoon requested to joined us in the moring.


The Mass began with a procession led by alter server carrying the cross, the school choirs sung beautiful hymn. Selected children read the scripture passages, emphasizing themes of repentance and renewal.
Distribution of Ashes: Each childreceived ashes on their forehead in the form of a cross, accompanied by the words,“Remember thatyou are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
This ritual was carried out with solemnity, yet with a sense of unity and belonging.Homily: Rev.Fr. Irfan Jerome delivered a homily explaining the significance of the ashes as a reminder of human mortality and the call to turn back to God. He encouraged them to practice kindness, prayer, and self-discipline during Lent.
Lent encourages believers to reflect on the life, suffering, and death of Jesus. It is a time for self- examination and “inner conversion,” where individuals acknowledge their sins and seek God’s forgiveness.
Music and Hymns: The school choir sang hymns that reflected the penitential spirit of the season. Their voices added warmth and devotion to the liturgy.

Prayers of the Faithful: Students offered prayers for Pope Leo XIV, for their families, teachers, the poor, and for peace in the world, showing their awareness of broader concerns beyond the school walls.
The Ash Wednesday Mass with school children was a meaningful start totheLenten journey. It not only introduced the students to the spiritual significanceofthe season but also fostered a sense of community and shared faith. The celebrationencouraged everyone to reflect on their lives, seek forgiveness, and commit toactsof love and service during Lent.We thank the Lord for this beautiful season.
