“Our roots in Christ, our mission in the world”
Continuing to share the Capitular Assembly of the Province of Latin America, we would like to emphasize that this day was characterized by listening, first of all, to the message of Mother General, Sister María Rosa, who encouraged us to live this time as a time of grace, of listening to the spirit, with a free heart that allows us to live the synodal journey. She reminded us that this journey begun in our Province is part of the congregational journey and urged us to put “our roots in Christ, our mission in the world.”
Secondly, we listened to many testimonies of life over the last three years and began our reflection in preparation for the General Chapter on discipleship.
During the morning, we continued with the provincial report, with sharing among the different groups and workshops on the points achieved and not achieved, as well as on the challenges present in each area. We continued with the economic report, emphasizing the challenge of living a circular economy, looking at the budget as a means of expressing our projects, our choices, and our dreams, daily life and mission as actions to realize them, and the annual budget, the place where we record the results.
In the afternoon, we began our in-depth study of discipleship using the synodal methodology.
The illuminating text on discipleship was “Consecrate them in the truth: your word is truth. I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word” (Jn 17:17, 20), which urges us to discover in truth that we are called to follow, a following that does not happen on its own, but begins with an encounter that roots us and launches us in the manner of Jesus to build his Kingdom.
We thank God for the presence of his Spirit who accompanies and guides our journey.

During the third day of the Provincial Chapter Assembly of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Jeanne Antide of the Latin American Province, the morning was dedicated to deepening the theme of unity, while in the afternoon, the theme of prophecy was addressed.
The illuminating word of unity that accompanied this space was Jn 17:21-23: “…that they may be one as we are one. I in them and you in me, that they may be perfect in unity”. This Word was illuminated by two sisters from the Province, and with the contribution of each of the communities, we went to the synodal tables to listen to the whisperings of the Spirit.
Jeanne Antide confirmed who is the root of our unity: “It is Jesus Christ who has brought us together to love and serve him. Let us always love him!” And it is the person of Jesus who calls us to unity in diversity: “Be always united in the holy peace of the Lord. May neither the world nor the devil ever divide you; this is all I ask of God, begging him to pour out his abundant blessings on you continually” (SGA).
In the afternoon, we began our reflection on prophecy, where it manifests itself, what it calls us to. We saw that prophecy is lived out in community, in daily life, with concrete gestures rather than words. We concluded the day with a commitment to continue to deepen our understanding of our reality in order to discover God’s passage in history and in our realities.
