February 5
Fourth day of the Chapter Assembly.
We resumed our reflection on prophecy, expressing what prophecy we want to live today in Latin America. The text that illuminated the day was: “As You sent me into the world, I also send them into the world… so that all may be one… and the world may believe that You sent me…”.
Thus, after several days of walking together in synodal tables and fraternal sharing in the assembly, we built the postulates that, as the Province of Latin America, we want to bring to the General Chapter.
Giving space to the Spirit to grow, in secret, what God wants, we moved on to a new moment of the Chapter: the election of the capitular sisters who will represent the Province.
This moment began with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the center and root of our consecration and a sign of unity in our lives. Then we moved to the chapter hall to begin the process of electing the capitulars, in an atmosphere of fraternity and trust in the presence of the Spirit among us.
We concluded the day with a Eucharistic celebration, during which we presented the elected sisters to the Lord and, with them, the challenge of incarnating the Gospel and being prophetic communities among our peoples.
As a final touch, after dinner, we shared a moment of fraternal gratitude.
February 6
Last day of the Chapter Assembly of the Province of Latin America.
We began the day with a moment of prayer, offering up the day. This was followed by a moment of formation on economics, with the aim of unifying common criteria, and then we proceeded to the election of the three postulates that, as a province, we will present as a contribution to the preparation of the General Chapter.
We then proceeded to vote on the themes proposed to the Chapter, in an atmosphere of participation and fraternal search, respecting diversity and with a desire for integration.
At the end of the elections, some news about the family was shared, and we listened to the closing words of Sister Marta Lomas, Provincial of the Province of Latin America, who reminded us that:
“A Sister of Charity, daughter of Juana Antida, must never renounce prophecy. But we are not prophets of doom, rather prophets who know how to clothe themselves in Jesus Christ and who know, in the same way, how to carry the weapons of light, remaining humble and, at the same time, diligent, vigilant, and attentive. We are prophets of mercy in our homes, looking at our history; we look at our sister with eyes of tenderness and mercy and we welcome the gaze of the sister who looks at us with tenderness and mercy.”
The Provincial Chapter closed with the celebration of the Eucharist in the Central Chapel of the Provincial House, in the presence of Archbishop Gustavo Carrara, Father Cristian Gonzálvez, the Christian community, and all the Sisters of the Province.
It was a great thanksgiving for all the life that has developed in these days and a special celebration for the 25 years of religious life of Sister Noemí Domínguez.
Our hearts are grateful to each sister who has been willing to walk this synodal path and take on the great challenge of making our dreams a reality in our lives, in order to remain faithful to our motto:
“Our roots in Christ, our mission in the world.”
