Children will soon arrive to fill with joy, novelty and exuberance the new nursery school in Bangui, Central African Republic, strongly desired by Sister Silvana Rossini, who spent her entire life on mission in Central Africa and passed away on 31 December 2024.
After three months of intense work, everything is taking shape, thanks also to the active collaboration of friends of Ponte sull’Africa Centrale, volunteers from Grimm, Cantieri di Solidarietà and Sister Silvana from heaven: a solid network serving projects of education, inclusion, citizenship and cooperation that has its heart in the Brescia area.

The Grimm volunteers, with their commitment and professionalism, have formed a strong alliance with the group of local young people.
Day after day, bricks, roofing and plaster have made a dream visible and concrete.
Even the curious children of the village have come closer and enjoyed themselves.
There is a lot of positive energy and everything is now real:

guaranteeing education for children and their Christian formation,
lightening the burden of women’s commitments, guaranteeing their children an alternative place to stay while they work,
offering work to local people, both initially for the construction of the school and subsequently for the start-up and management of the educational activity.
Inspired and supported by the Gospel:
‘Be the salt of the earth and the light of the world’.

A Bridge over Central Africa is an association founded in 2012 by Sister Silvana, to give concrete form to the aid provided by friends and relatives who have been supporting small and large projects in the Central African Province of the Sisters of Charity for years.

The Grimm Cantieri di solidarietà (Grimm Shipyards of Solidarity): men and women from the Brescia area who describe themselves as ‘missionaries with calloused hands whose greatest reward is the gift of a smile from the world’s poor’.
