‘A fragment of royalty has arrived among us!’ Prince William and Princess Kate, through the Royal Mail, answered the letter sent to them by the students of the Regina Coeli Institute.
How it went, is told to us by Prof. Daniela Silvestre, foreign language teacher at the bilingual comprehensive institute, founded more than two hundred years ago by Mother Thouret. Upon their arrival, in 1810, the Sisters of Besançon introduced the learning of the French language. Today the school invests in language learning also through foreign language lessons for curricular subjects.

“Naples, 3rd April 2025 – The students of the three classes of the lower secondary school of the Regina Coeli comprehensive school in Naples received a reply to their letter from the Royal Mail from Prince William and Princess Kate.
The pupils, guided by language teacher Daniela Silvestre, sent a letter to the royal family after studying and learning about Anglo-Saxon culture during their English lessons.
The Coordinator of teaching and educational activities, Professor Sister Anna Di Candia, welcomed the proposal with enthusiasm and encouraged the children in this new learning adventure.
In their letter, the children told the story of our Institute and emphasised the work of Saint Jeanne-Antide and her charisma.
The students also described the school organisation and the subjects they study.
The letter was accompanied by a photo of the school and drawings that conveyed the joy and warmth of Neapolitan culture to the Royal Family.
The letter from the Royal Mail of the Princes expresses their thanks and greetings to the entire educational community and to each student of our Institute.
This is a great satisfaction for our school, which has been practising bilingualism for years and invests in language learning also through CLIL activities, i.e. lessons in a foreign language instead of Italian. Furthermore, every educational choice is aimed at building the future of the new generations: by participating in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), students have the opportunity to enhance their digital, linguistic, scientific and artistic skills.

Our school can be represented by the simple but precious word ‘family’: many pupils start attending nursery school when they are very young, learn to face new challenges in primary school, and continue and finish their educational journey in lower secondary school.
It is thanks to the support of all the administrative staff and all the teachers at the various schools that our pupils make us proud of their achievements. The children at the lower secondary school have also sent a letter to King Charles III and who knows if His Majesty will reply.
