On 29 November 2025, in St Mary’s Cathedral in Wau, South Sudan, Sister Grace definitively consecrated her life to God and to the poor among the Sister of Charity.

The celebration was presided over by Mgr Matteo Remijio Adam, a Comboni missionary.

The cathedral was filled with fellow sisters, family members, friends and young people who had come to give thanks to God for the gift of life that their companion had made, to pray for her and with her, and to pray for the poor and the least, whom Sister Grace goes to serve as a nurse at the government dispensary in Rajaf.

Rajaf is a village a few kilometres from Juba, the capital, where many people who arrived from the north after the separation between Sudan and South Sudan still live, unable to rebuild their lives. The new refugees join those already living in very difficult conditions.

Following the war that broke out in Sudan on 14 April 2023, in addition to the numerous victims of the bombings, there has been a growing flow of refugees. The UNHCR reports that 6,000,000 displaced persons are seeking shelter in South Sudan and another 1,400,000 have reached neighbouring countries.

The Church in South Sudan, including male and female religious life, is a significant point of reference for this young and spiritually rich people.
