Reading aloud of letters written by missionary nuns who left in the mid-20th century: departures filled with missionary fervor and nostalgia, endless journeys, often in daring conditions, arrivals in countries unknown from every point of view, challenging times of integration, and first initiatives of evangelization.
The sisters, from various European backgrounds, left for distant destinations: Laos, Paraguay, Chad, Central African Republic…
The sisters’ letters reveal a deep and grateful sense of wonder, good spirit, joyful trust in God, and missionary pride in following in the footsteps of their foundress, Mother Thouret, “who would have crossed the seas if she had known that God wanted her to.”
