Thouret Network – The socio-educational sector

An Encounter that Opens Paths of Communion and CollaborationOn May 20, 2026, we experienced a meaningful moment of encounter and sharing within the socio-educational sector of the Thouret Network.

This reflection was written by Sister Sara

and Ms Melanie, the Director of SJAF (St. Jeanne-Antide Foundation) in Malta.

The meeting, organized by the International Office for Education (UIPE), was an experience rich in listening, reflection, and participation, which allowed everyone to feel part of a greater reality united by the same educational and charismatic values. From the very beginning, there was a spirit of welcome and fraternity.

Through prayer, personal introductions, and the sharing of different experiences of mission and service, we were able to gain a deeper understanding of the socio-educational works present in various contexts. This moment of dialogue helped us recognize how valuable the diversity of experiences becomes when lived in communion and inspired by the same educational passion.

A particularly meaningful part of the meeting was the presentation and guidance offered by Sister Mirna throughout the encounter. Through her reflections she helped participants deepen their understanding of the Foundations Guide, the identity of our works, our educational vision, and the pedagogy of relationships that inspires our daily service. It became clear that educating means, first of all, loving and caring for others, accompanying them with trust, and offering an authentic witness through our presence.

The meeting was also a precious opportunity to feel listened to, welcomed, and encouraged in our journey. The experiences shared and the open dialogue strengthened the desire to continue growing in mutual knowledge and collaboration.Encounters like this are essential for building authentic relationships and strengthening the sense of “we” within our socio-educational service.

Only by walking together, sharing ideas, experiences, and challenges, can we grow as an educational community and make our service ever more human, Gospel-centered, and close to the people entrusted to us.We also deeply appreciated this initiative and encourage that such encounters continue regularly, as they foster unity, cooperation, and mutual enrichment among all participants.

The hope is that this will not remain an isolated moment but rather become the beginning of an increasingly synodal journey marked by shared responsibility, mutual support, and concrete collaboration.Continuing to meet, listen to one another, and grow together will certainly be a richness for all and a concrete sign of the strength of our socio-educational network.
