The Educational Mission Guidelines and the Fundamentals of the Educational Mission of the Sisters of Charity were presented on Monday, 9 February 2026, to the school administrators of the Thouret School Network France.
It was a particularly rich videoconference animée par Sœur Mirna Farah, coordinatrice de l’Office International de l’Education. The purpose of this meeting was to present the Educational Mission Guidelines (LDME) and the Fundamentals of the Educational Mission of the Sisters of Charity. It is part of a profound dynamic: that of a rapidly evolving network, eager to strengthen its unity, consolidate its practices and become ever more deeply rooted in its founding charism.
From the outset, Sister Wandamaria Clerici (General Councillor) recalled that the Congregation, like the contemporary world, is undergoing profound changes. In this changing context, several needs are clearly apparent:
- to consolidate the international network,
- to develop training processes,
- to strengthen a common educational identity
- to get to know each other better in order to draw together from the same charismatic source.

It is in this spirit that two new booklets have just been published. Aimed primarily at teachers and educators, they offer a clear and accessible presentation of the educational heritage of the Sisters of Charity and are valuable tools for better understanding, living and transmitting the mission.
At the heart of this mission, Sister Mirna highlighted the essential educational priorities, including: training in discernment and interior life, essential in a world marked by a poverty of interiority; training in responsibility and service, in continuity with charity in action; and commitment to social justice and integral ecology, in line with Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti. Building a true ‘village of education’ remains the ambition that drives the entire network.
Two educational attitudes were also particularly emphasised: exemplarity, which is essential for giving meaning and coherence to the educational act, and mentoring, which allows young people to be accompanied in their challenges, their progress and their personal development.
The new booklets “Fondements de la Mission éducative” (Foundations of the Educational Mission) thus bring together, in a structured way, the educational style specific to our charism, the pedagogy of relationship and the fundamental guidelines that guide our mission on a daily basis. They are a valuable resource for all teams.
At the end of the meeting, the school principals organised themselves into working groups to compare the founding texts with their reality on the ground. Together, they reflected on what challenges their practices today, as well as the concrete implications for their schools. This collaborative approach opens a path of consistency, commitment and renewal for the entire THOURET France network.
