As of May 8, 2023, Sister Maria Rosa, Superior General, and Councilors Sister Wanda Maria and Sister Maria Luisa are in Milwaukee, meeting with the sisters of the Provincial House community and the students and faculty of St. Jeanne High School.

Milwaukee is the capital of the federal state of Wisconsin: a multi-ethnic city from its origins: the name Milwuakee, in the language of the Fox Indian tribe, means “good land.” The Sisters of Charity have taken up residence in this “good land” since the second half of the last century.

The General Council’s visit these days allows us, through a virtual tour, to visit, too, the high school, the provincial house, and the recent Burke Foundation that has come to life in some of the school’s underutilized premises: a multi-purpose learning center for female students, in close collaboration with Milwaukee’s professional community and available to the people of the neighborhood and the broader city community.
